  About us

The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Local Pharmaceutical Committee (LPC) represents the interests of Pharmacy Contractors in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, through:

  • regular communications with Contractors on key issues

  • discussions with other Healthcare Groups to promote Pharmacy & local Contractors

  • support for the introduction of new Pharmacies to enhance the health of the local population

  • support to the development of new local pharmaceutical services

The LPC maintains regular close contact with the Primary Care Trusts (PCTs).  LPC members are to be found on policy making bodies within the PCT for Healthcare services to the County.  The LPC also maintains regular links with GPs both through the Local Medical Committee and the PCOs. The LPC also represents pharmacy to the Community Health Councils, the local Members of Parliament, and is often called upon to provide spokespeople for the local media.

Whilst dispensing of prescriptions will remain as the core function of all pharmacies, the provision of Healthcare advice and other services will become increasingly important. The LPC is at the heart of all local initiatives that meet this need.

The LPC is an elected body with a composition that reflects the makeup of the profession in Community Pharmacy.
